Elegance Hardwood Flooring has state of the art pre-finishing machinery as well as a unique style of stain application, which means the final product stands above the rest when it come to quality. Here are some suggestions to keep the hardwood floors looking spectacular for years to come.

Cleaning:

· When spills occur, use an absorbing cloth as soon as possible to avoid liquids standing on the wood.

· To avoid abrasive grit or dirt, use a vacuum cleaner with the hard floor attachment, dust mop or broom.

· Wipe floor with a damp cloth or mop periodically.

· Never wash or wet mop the floor with water, soap (including oil-soap detergent) or other liquid cleaning products. Standing water will cause warping, delaminating, swelling and joint-line separation a lot faster. This will void the warranty.

· Never use oil-based, wax, polish, abrasive cleaners or strong ammoniated cleaners. Steel wool or scouring powders will also damage the hardwood.

· Buffing machines are not recommended on hardwood floors.

Maintenance:

· Laying quality area rugs and doormats by outdoor entrance can prevent sand, dirt, rocks, grit, oils, asphalt and/or driveway sealer from damaging the hardwood. Mats should be place in front of sinks or water-use appliances.

Tips

· Floor protectors should be used in areas where heavy objects (rollers/leg bases), are being laid on the floor. Never slide heavy objects, when moving these pieces, make sure to use a dolly on to of ¼” thick sheets of plywood to protect the floor.

· Felt is common practice with hardwood. Every piece of furniture should have felt at the bottom to prevent scratches when there are moved

· Humidity levels should be ideally maintained in between the levels of 40-60% though out the year to avoid expansion and contraction of wood. This can be easily maintained with a humidifier/de-humidifier.

· Keep all sharp objects away. Stiletto – style heels, spiked golf shoes, cleats, untrimmed pet nails will cause damage on the hardwood floors.

· Shears over windows is recommended for rooms where sunlight and UV rays hit the wood directly and over a long period of time.
